Soil Needs to Freeze
The ground needs to freeze during the winter. It breaks up soil so that microorganisms can get to work on its contents. It is also very important for crops because it will kill those creatures not native to this country. This November 2024 a sleet shower is a reminder of how cold helps but it is very short-lived. Indicators of climate change suggest that the failing of the North Atlantic Drift will cause us rapidly to move into another ice age. Nature knows what it is doing. We don’t.
