Bluebells

The daintiness of our English Bluebell woods (so special and unique) are endangered by the introduction of Spanish Bluebells. Beware!
Sadly, the small English Bluebells recorded last year already have some Spanish invaders clipping at their heels. Also, the extraordinarily early ‘spring’ has meant that Bluebells are flowering in early April (instead of early May). Noted April 2024.
Somehow the Spanish bluebells have been reduced in numbers this year – a result because of my picking out so many last year or simply a climate issue?  Whichever way, it is a relief to see so few Spanish Invaders this year May 2026.
