Unexpected Bees in May
Often, we do not see how many bees there are especially on a shrub that has hundreds of small flowers . . . Recorded May 2021. Whereas the Cotoneaster was buzzing in every part of its foliage and flowers in May 2021 it is sad to report that in May 2023 there were very few bees to enjoy the rich nectar of this shrub. The severe drought and heat of 2022 will have had a severe impact upon solitary bees. I am pleased to report that in May 2024 the bees are returning to the Cotoneaster but not in such great profusion as in May 2021
